Drøhses House
Drøhses house reopens on 22 March 2024!!
Drøhse's house was built in 1672 by county clerk Friedrich Jürgensen. The gable house was built in the middle of the main street in Tønder.
The house is named after bookseller F.W.E Drøhse, who bought it in 1859.
Towards the street dominates the very beautiful baroque door portal in sandstone with twisted columns with Ionic capitals and vine decoration. At the top of the portal are the coats of arms of the builder and his wife.
The door itself is Rococo and has typical thick-bellied fillings at the bottom and cross-bar windows.
In 1985, after a major restoration, the house received the recognized Europa-Nostra-Prize.
