Memorial Stone, Peter Reimers
The memorial stone over Peter Reimers was made by sculptor Niels Hansen Jacobsen (1861-1941). The stone was erected by fellow compatriots in 1926 (see the stones backside).
Peter Reimers (1826-1922) was a key figure in the fight for Danish rights in southern Jutland around 1900 and he lived to experience the Reunion in 1920. He became a „white knight“ in 1850, receiving the Order of Dannebrog on recommendation by his company, for honourable participation in the Three Year´s War also known as the First Schleswig War (1848-50). After the Reunion in 1920, Peter Reimer was appointed Commander 2. Class to the order of Dannebrog.
