The old Firestation in Haderslev
Explore the story of the disaster that left half of Haderslev in ruins.
In 1759, a great fire ravaged Haderslev, with half of the city's houses going up in smoke during the blaze that lasted for three days. This story is now told in the old Fire Station at Slotsgrunden 2 in Haderslev. The fire station was built in 1834 as one of several fire stations in Haderslev and was used as a fire station until 1930.
In 2024, the old Fire Station was inaugurated to tell the story of the fire disaster. The museum can be visited by prior arrangement with Haderslev Housing Association's Byhusene, Alice Allerelli.
